Baldwin & Francis (B&F) has helped to rationalise the 11KV substation network at Valero’s Pembrokeshire Oil Terminal in Southwest Wales, UK.
All 11KV substations have now been upgraded at the terminal using “withdrawable” vacuum circuit breaker switchboards from B&F’s Igranic PowerVac range.
Valero’s goal was to simplify and standardise its substation network across the terminal and gain reliable performance, maximum safety and simplified maintenance. The withdrawable PowerVac VCB (Vacuum Circuit Breaker) also provides the interchangeability not achievable with fixed type VCBs.
Igranic PowerVac VH1H for substation network upgrades
The Igranic PowerVac VH1H range of KEMA-certified, medium voltage vacuum circuit breakers delivers exceptional performance in a range of distribution, power generation and switchboard applications. It features a flexible, fully withdrawable breaker within a metal-clad construction and is mechanically / electrically interlocked for behind closed-door operation.
The distribution switchgear at the Valero site is SF6 (gas) free and has been tested to IEC62271-100 and IEC62271-200. Furthermore, it has the highest possible classification for Internal Arc (AFLR) containment for maximum operator safety.
To make cabling easier, the Igranic PowerVac VH1H range is available in top or bottom cable entry configurations. It is highly reliable with a proven robust design that is easy to maintain. The units feature independently padlocked busbar and circuit shutters, and the fault rated circuit earth switch is mechanically interlocked with the circuit breaker.
