JOB TITLE: Production / Service Manager
DEPARTMENT: Production/Service
REPORTS TO: Business Unit Manager (Service) + Operations Director
LOCATION: Baldwin & Francis Ltd, President Way Sheffield

JOB PURPOSE

The Production / Service Manager is responsible for delivering the build, assembly, testing, and site work programmes of equipment; on time, within budget, and whilst maintaining exceptional quality standards. They are to manage the production, test, and service teams effectively and safely to deliver this and develop the department in order to meet the overall objectives of the company.

They are to implement and control the day-to-day continuous improvement programmes set within the quality management system and strategy to drive efficiencies into the department and better quality to our customers, to drive margin enhancement and customer satisfaction.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• An integral member of the senior management team responsible for delivering the overall company objectives and driving strategic change at the operational level.
• Implement the departments training plan to develop people and processes to improve performance, efficiency, quality, and workplace satisfaction.
• Responsible for the safe management of production and service delivery operations, implementing the company’s health and safety policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the control of costs within the department, including assisting with the pricing and quotation of new enquiries.
• Manage the delivery of production and service labour resource plans to meet project / production & service timelines.
• Provide regular feedback to other managers, and team members and provide problem resolutions.
• Responsible for the general maintenance of the shopfloor and the service team’s fleet and equipment.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers where required.
• Leads by example and sets a standard within the department.
• Reporting of the work progress to allow for completion to the client’s requirements and for financial reporting purposes.
• Manage the existing service agreements with clients to ensure SLA’s are maintained and achieved.
• Ensure the site quality procedures / processes for RISQS accreditation are maintained in the field.
• Ensuring the service team have a clear understanding of the work scopes and all equipment / tools / training to allow the work to be completed safely and on-time.
• To work closely with the Business Unit Manager / Service Co-Ordinator to ensure all service works are planned and any challenges are understood and actioned to ensure a smooth running the service department.
• Carry out other reasonable duties as requested.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICIATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

• Experience of LV and MV Electrical panels & switchgear.
• Experience managing site work (RAMS, SSoW etc.,)
• Experience of project-based organisations.
• Proven experience in a similar role.
• Hands-on approach
• Proficient in using IT systems, including Microsoft Office.
• High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
• Pro-active attitude and problem resolution

Desirable:
• IOSH/NEBOSH
• Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and other CI methodologies.
• Experience of RISQs and Rail Industry Standards.
• Experience of ATEX/Ex standards
